Day 3
The White House
Presidential Garden
When the Presdient has vistors this is where they stay. Depending on the country the vistor is from, the flag changes.
Presidents in the past have also stayed here during renovations of the White House.
World War Two Memorial
Each star represents 100 soldiers that died.
On each side of the memorial, Pacific or Atlantic, the battles fought either ocean are listed along the edges of a fountain.
Found Kilroy!
Washington State!
The eagles and the wreath.
Ford's Theater
The tickets WERE a keepsake.
Bad picture because of the glass, but this is the one shot gun that killed Lincoln.
A picture of George Washington? Why?
Because that is the same picture that was placed there the night President Lincoln was shot.
Petersen's House
The bed Lincoln died in.
The museum had many interesting artifacts.
The rope fragments from each of the ropes that hung the people behind Lincoln murder.
Each of the books is one of the many about Lincoln.
United States Navy Memorial
The water every year for the fountains is taken from the 7 seas.
Keely, Ashley, and Rachael!
No pictures allowed! But we saw the Declaration of Independence, The Constituion, and the Bill of Rights. Plus a few others. :)
Us friends having fun!
Smithsonian: Portrait Gallery
Lots of original artworks and MANY amazing stories and facts behind each president. If you had the guts to stay and listen to our fabulous guide.
September 11th Memorial
The youngest victim on the plane hijacking.
Relatives that also died on 9/11 are listed below the bench representing the person.
Following each bench you will find the year they were born.
Lots of symbolic meaning in this memorial. If you were reading the benches and facing the building the person was killed in the pentagon(the white building in the background.) If you were facing the sky, the person was killed in aboard the plane.
